The Sun Moon Lake is one of Taiwan’s most famous attractions. It derives its name from the fact that one section of the lake is shaped like the sun while another takes the shape of a crescent moon. 2. Jiufen, Taipei
Jiufen located at the northern coast of Taiwan is one of the best places to go to. It’s not just about Jiufen Old Street which has some of the best food and shopping in Taiwan. Jiufen is also the place to go to for panoramic views of the coast. Settle yourself into one of the many teahouses at Jiufen Old Street and admire the stunning views with a cup of hot tea.

3. Yehliu National Park, Taipei
Coastal scenery and amazing rock formation are abound at Yehliu National Park. Walk among the limestone structures which can be taller than a human being and admire the amazing work of nature!
4. Taroko National Park, Hualien
If you are looking for amazing coastal scenery and rock formations, then Taroko Gorge National Park is for you. There are various outstanding sights within the national park, but the Qingshui Cliffs (清水斷崖), Shakadang (砂卡礑), Swallow Grotto (燕子口) and Seven Stars Lake (七星潭) are among the best. The Taroko National Park in Hualien is easily accessible from Taipei city and totally do-able as a day trip.

7. Fo Guang Shan, Kaohsiung
Be awed by one of the largest bronze statues of Lord Buddha in the world at Fo Guang Shan (佛光山) located at the suburbs of Kaohsiung. The path towards Lord Buddha, known as the path of enlightenment is flanked by eight majestic pagoda, adding to the overall majesty of this massive temple.
8. Formosa Boulevard, Kaohsiung
Ranked as one of the world’s most beautiful metro stations, this massive dome of light is located at Kaohsiung’s Formosa Boulevard (美麗島) metro station. Thousands of tourists flock to this metro station just for a snap before proceeding on to the nearby Liuhe Night Market, making this place a must-visit destination in any visitor’s itinerary.

Take a long coastal drive to scenic viewing sights such as Longpan Park (龍磐公園) to catch astonishing views of the Pacific Ocean.
