Wu Lao Guo is one of Taiwan’s most famous and popular hotpot. Its prices are a little premium, but the services and quality of food that comes with the price tag more than makes up for it. The most distinguishing feature of Wu Lao Guo is their broth or soup base. 2. Xin Mala Hotpot (台北新马辣经典麻辣锅) – The Most Value-For-Money Hotpot Restaurant in Taiwan
Our new favourite hotpot restaurant has got be Xin Mala Hotpot. This is the only buffet hotpot in the list of best hotpots to try in Taiwan. The broth is not as high quality as the rest of the restaurants listed here, but it more than makes up for it by the free flow of premium hotpot ingredients provided. If you are a beef or a seafood lover, you will extract great value from this meal. What’s more, there’s a free flow ice cream buffet included in the price as well. This consists of Haagen Daz and Movenpick ice creams. You can easily get back the price of the meal by eating ice-cream alone! Our only advice to you – go with an empty stomach. 3. Top One Pot (這一鍋皇室秘藏鍋物)
Top One Pot was one of our new discoveries during a recent trip to Taiwan. Just like Wu Lao Guo, Top One Pot also takes great pride in its broth. Drawing from the recipes handed down from the royalties of various Chinese dynasties, the broth used here are said to be nourishing and restores youth and vitality. In addition, Top One Pot’s most special item on the menu are their Matsuzaka Pork, creatively made into the shape of a rose which you can’t find in other restaurants. 4. Ding Wang Hotpot (鼎王麻辣鍋) – The Local’s Recommended Hotpot Restaurant in Taiwan
Ding Wang Hotpot is another premium and top-rated hotpot restaurant in Taiwan. Its signature broth is the spicy mala broth, flavoured with duck blood which seems to be the favourite ingredient for many hotpot restaurants. The meats and ingredients here are also of the freshest and most premium cut. This is one of the local’s most highly rated hotpot restaurants.

5. Red 99 Individual Spicy Hotpot
If you want something more mass market, try Red 99 Mala Spicy Hotpot. In contrast to other hotpot restaurants listed here, Red 99 gives each diner their individual pot for a personalised shabu-shabu experience. Take note though that seating could be tight and the environment not as premium as the other hotpot restaurants listed above.
