Planning a trip to Africa? In this installment of our Africa Travel Guide Series, we review our flight experience on board South African Airways from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls.
Fly from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls
Since we were in the African continent, we thought we would just make a quick trip to neighboring Zimbabwe to look at the world-renowned Victoria Falls, which was said to be even more massive and spectacular than the Niagara Falls. Our flight from Johannesburg to Zimbabwe was on South African Airways, a full service airline. The flight time was around 1.5 hours only.

South African Airways Cabin and Seats
These were the business class seats on South African Airways. They don’t look as luxurious or as spacious as other airlines, but for a short flight, this would do very well already.
Leg space for the business class was enormous.
These were the seats for our economy class.
I especially like the 2-4-2 configuration on any flights. It means so much to have couple space without a stranger sharing the same space with us. More importantly, it means that both of us can go to the restroom without asking for the same stranger to excuse us.
On the economy class seat, this was the leg space I had. For a woman of 1.6m, it would do very well for a short flight. I still had plenty of space to myself without feeling claustrophobic.
The same amount of leg space for a 1.8m man. Still pretty comfortable.

In Flight Entertainment System and Service
The inflight entertainment system, which really was not very impressive. Thankfully, we have our own electronic devices to entertain ourselves during the short flight time.
Inflight service in progress…
The one meal that was served on board was really just a choice between a beef or chicken sandwich and a drink. But it wasn’t too bad at all.

As we approach the airport for landing, we could see the Victoria Falls at a distance!
We soon landed at Victoria Falls Airport.
