Our stay at the Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront in Vancouver signified the start of our package tour of the Canadian Rocky Mountains with the Rocky Mountaineer. In fact, the Rocky Mountaineer had several choices of hotels for us (banded at different costs), one of which was the Georgian Court Hotel where we had dinner at, and was located next to our initial lodgings at the YWCA.
The Georgian Court had a fantastic location, but we were impressed with what the Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront looked like, and with its fantastic location just next to the Harbour, we were keen to give it a try.
Efficient Check-In and Service

As expected of any hotels of this level of standing, the check-in process and service at Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront was efficient and immaculate. The check-in staff quickly identified us as guests on the Rocky Mountaineer Canadian Rockies Tour, and very efficiently gave us a brief of what we needed to do to connect with Rocky Mountaineer.
I think a picture says a thousand words. This was our most luxurious and comfortable stay in Canada. Don’t get me wrong, we did enjoy our stay at the Four Points Sheraton Vancouver Airport and the YWCA, but they were just not as comforting and gorgeous as this room.
This was how spacious the room was. The coziness of the room does make a difference to a tired body. After spending two nights on a lumpy mattress at YWCA, this was the first night when I had a really good sleep.
We had a city view room which means that our room would face the city and not the harbour as what the harbour view rooms had. However, we were pleasantly surprised to find that side glimpses of the harbour and the mountain beyond were still available from the little balcony at our window.
Waking up to such a spectacular view was indeed refreshing.
Readers of our blog would know that I am most particular about bathroom hygiene. And a bathroom at a hotel like Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront did not disappoint. Although a little small in comparison to the size of the rest of the room, it was spotless and modern enough to satisfy my requirements.
In Canada, the Keurig capsule coffee machines were very popular. Our first encounter with this machine was at Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront and we quickly found that most other hotels in the Canadian Rockies also used this machine. Which means that I can get make a fairy high quality brew while enjoying the privacy of my room.
The Common Areas
There is a certain degree of poshness that is befitting of a hotel of this standard. Perhaps, the only area that seemed rather out of place was its lift lobby which looked like it could do with a bit of a refurbishment.
As part of the Canadian Rockies package with the Rocky Mountaineer, a rather sumptuous dinner was provided at the p2b, the in-house restaurant at the Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront. Breakfast was also provided as part of the package. However, as we had to depart early in the morning for the Canadian Rockies , we got a breakfast box instead.
Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront occupies a most excellent location if you like to be near the Harbour. It would be most convenient if you are departing for a cruise from the Harbour as we had when we went to Alaska a few years back, or if you want to catch a shuttle to the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront is also within walking distance to the Vancouver Lookout and there are many dining options around. Of course, if you prefer to be near Robson Street where most of the shopping action were, the Georgian Court or the YWCA would be a more suitable choice.
Just steps outside Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront, we had a encounter with a tiny tulip field just beside a pedestrian walkway. I guess that’s the benefit of visiting in spring.
