There are currently no direct flights from Singapore to Taichung. The best way to get to Taichung is to take a flight to Taipei and travel to Taichung from there. Taking the High Speed Rail (HSR) from Taipei to Taichung is your best transport option as it is the quickest and most hassle-free.
Before the advent of the Taipei Airport MRT, those who are planning to take the HSR will have to take a shuttle bus from Taoyuan Airport to Taoyuan HSR Station. However, the Airport MRT which is in operation now links the airport directly to the HSR Station. This provides a seamless experience for those who are traveling from Taipei Taoyuan Airport to other parts of Taiwan.

Step-by-Step Guide on how to get from Taoyuan Airport to Taichung
Step 1 : Follow the signage at Taoyuan Airport for directions to the Taoyuan Airport MRT Station.
Step 2 : Take the Airport MRT from Station A12 (from Terminal 1) or A13 (from Terminal 2) towards A18 (Taoyuan HSR Station).
You can buy the MRT tickets from the ticket booth at the Taoyuan Airport MRT Station. You can also use the Easycard（悠遊卡) if you already have one.
There are two MRT services which alternate with each other:
- Express Service (Purple) and
- Commuter Service (Blue)

The Express Service (purple) skips many stations while the Commuter service (blue) stops at every station. They both run at a fixed timing which you can check online.

For the short distance from Taoyuan Airport to the Taoyuan HSR Station, there is little difference between taking the commuter (blue) or the express (purple) line. We therefore recommend that you board whichever comes first.
Step 3 : Purchase HSR Tickets to Taichung
HSR tickets can be purchased at the HSR ticketing counter on the day of travel. However, it will be subject to availability.
You can get early bird HSR tickets at a discounted price if you buy them online at the THSR website up to 28 days before your date of travel. However, these tickets are limited in quantity and may be sold out quickly once they are released. Your tickets will also be for a specific train timing and this may pose a problem if you arrive earlier and will like to take an earlier train.

Step 4 : Board the South Board High Speed Rail (HSR) towards Zuoying which will take you to Taichung within 36 minutes.
Step 5 : Reach Taichung HSR Station.
If you are planning on using the bus, follow the signage to the underground bus bay where buses depart for various destinations in Taichung, including long haul journeys to the Sun Moon Lake .
If you are going to Fengjia Night Market and its vicinity, the bus to take is Ho-Hsin Bus 160 to Feng Chia University (Fuxing Road). Alight at Bus Stop 12 which is 7 stops away. The journey takes about 50 mins.
High Speed Rail from Taipei city to Taichung
