The Rainbow Village is one of the most unique attractions in Taichung.  It is a site full of cultural and artistic value with bright and colorful murals covering the whole of this historical village.  In this installment of our Taiwan Travel Guide Series, we bring you to the Rainbow Village in Taichung.

Rainbow Village Taichung – Rich with History

The Rainbow village was initially developed to house war veterans and their families after the war. The government later announced plans to demolish the village and redevelop the area.

One veteran soldier started painting bright and colorful murals on the walls of this home and the surroundings. This quickly gained the awareness of the public, and the demolition plans were shelved.  Today, this has evolved to become one of the top tourist attractions in Taichung.
