With it being a Friday and also our last night at Southampton before we start our cruise to the Baltic sea, we decided to settle in for a good meal at TGI Fridays which was just downstairs from our lodgings at Ibis Southampton Centre and part of the West Quay Retail Park.
We came in for an early dinner, but the place was already quite packed with party-goers on a Friday evening.
Fortunately, there are still some comfortable seats around.
The menu of TGI Fridays. 2 courses for 9.99 or 10.99 pounds sounds like a good deal, but too bad it was available only from Monday to Thursdays.
The specialty of the house was their Jack Daniels’ Grill.
Service at TGI Fridays was incredibly slow – in fact, we spent more time waiting for the food to arrive than on eating the food itself. It is quite a far cry from the TGI Fridays that we had at Orlando where we enjoyed both the food and the service.
My order of Cajun Cream Chicken Pasta – penne pasta in a Cajun sauce, topped with Cajun spiced chicken breast and regatto cheese. A little too cheesy for my liking.
Tommy’s order of ‘Three Little Pigs’ hot sandwich comprising of their specialty Jack Daniel’s pork belly, BBQ pulled pork and crispy bacon served on toasted ciabatta bread, with melted cheese, rocket, fresh tomato, apple slaw and Honey Mustard mayo. It was a much better choice than mine.
Total bill was about 18 pounds – for two main courses only without any drinks or appetizers.
For a mediocre meal with less than ideal service, it was kind of expensive. Our advice – have your meal at the West Quay Shopping Centre or the main shopping district of Southampton. You get more choices there at perhaps lower prices.
